Recalculate an estimate
Recalculation updates the prices of all line items linked to UPAs, applying current catalog prices and labor/equipment template factors.
When to recalculate
- After updating prices in the catalog.
- After modifying tax or labor burden templates.
- After linking new UPAs to line items.
- After modifying lines inside a UPA.
- Before generating a new baseline or exporting the final estimate.
How to recalculate
- Open the estimate workspace.
- Click Recalculate in the Topbar.
- Wait for the async process to finish.
- Line item prices update on screen.
What changes and what doesn't
| Line item type | Updated? |
|---|---|
linked_upa — linked to a UPA | ✅ Yes |
manual — manually entered price | ❌ No |
override — UPA price overridden by user | ❌ No (override preserved) |
Override mode
If you manually modify the price of a line item linked to a UPA, the system switches it to override mode. Recalculation will not touch that price.
To reset to the UPA price: select the line item → Reset from UPA. Mode switches back to linked_upa.
tip
Recalculate at the end of a work session, not after every price change, to optimize time.
