Cost Control module

The Cost Control module centralizes project performance metrics: budget vs. actual, Earned Value Management (EVM), and risk management.

EVM metrics

MetricFormulaInterpretation
SV (Schedule Variance)EV − PVPositive = ahead; negative = behind
CV (Cost Variance)EV − ACPositive = under budget; negative = over budget
SPI (Schedule Performance Index)EV / PV> 1 = ahead; < 1 = behind
CPI (Cost Performance Index)EV / AC> 1 = under budget; < 1 = over budget
ETC (Estimate to Complete)(BAC − EV) / CPIProjected remaining cost
EAC (Estimate at Completion)AC + ETCProjected total cost
VAC (Variance at Completion)BAC − EACBudget vs. projection difference
tip

CPI > 1 and SPI > 1 indicate a well-controlled project: under budget and ahead of schedule.

Variances by line item

The Variances section shows a breakdown per estimate line item:

  • Budget / Committed / Actual / Variance

Risk register

Create a risk

Fill in: title, category, probability (High/Medium/Low), impact (High/Medium/Low), amount at risk, mitigation plan, and owner.

Risk matrix

The system automatically calculates the risk level (Probability × Impact) with color coding:

  • 🔴 High — immediate action required
  • 🟡 Medium — actively monitor
  • 🟢 Low — periodically monitor
